12 Strays of Christmas promotes animal adoptions in Odessa

This Christmas song will paw on your heart strings.

The Odessa Police Department has released a social media campaign called the “12 Strays of Christmas” with the aim of moving animals from the Odessa Animal Shelter into new homes.

Each day leading up to Christmas Day, OPD introduces an image of a cute dog or cat that needs a loving home.

The “first stray of Christmas” was Tina, a boxer mix.  The fourth stray was a puppy named Capt. America. The seventh was Tigger, whose Christmas wish is to watch holiday films with her forever family, according to OPD.

Once a pet is adopted, the OPD said it would update photos of them to indicate that. Good news on that front. As of this writing, five of the first eight “Strays of Christmas” have been adopted, according to OPD.

To follow the series, visit the OPD Facebook page here.

You can visit the shelter or view the animals online through this webpage.

The OPD reminds adopters to spay/neuter their pets and make sure they’re up-to-date on their vaccinations.
