West Texas Sports Banquet & Memorabilia Auction rescheduled to March 1
UPDATE: This event has been rescheduled to March 1 due to the winter weather.
Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Andre Dawson will serve as keynote speaker, and Super Bowl XXX MVP Larry Brown will be a special guest, at the 2023 West Texas Sports Banquet & Memorabilia Auction.
The event takes place at the Midland Country Club on Wednesday, Feb. 1. It benefits the St. Ann’s School Athletic Fund, Casa de Amigos and the Midland Rockhounds Scholarship Fund.
Rockhounds Owners Miles Prentice and Bob Richmond and General Manager Monty Hoppel started the West Texas Sports Banquet & Memorabilia Auction in 1991. The event has raised over a half-million dollars since, according to the Rockhounds.
In addition to the keynote speaker and special guest, the event features silent and live auctions of sports (and other) memorabilia, the announcement of the Rockhounds Fan of the Year, and the presentation of the Scott Seator Community Achievement Award, which honors an individual for contributions to community through athletics.
