Aviation Maintenance Technology program takes off in January
Interested in a career as an aircraft mechanic?
The Midland College (MC) Board of Trustees recently approved a conditional reopening of the Aviation Maintenance Technology program, with the first cohort to begin January 2023 at Midland International Air and Space Port, Hanger E, according to MC.
Students interested in enrolling should contact either (432) 563-8952 or (432) 685-4676 for more information. A limited number of spaces are available.
The program runs 18 months for full-time students and offers flexible schedules and hands-on aircraft training at Hanger E.
Students who graduate from the program learn repair, inspection, modification or complete overhaul of an aircraft or aircraft component. Graduates are “qualified to work on aircraft components and systems including airframe, piston engines, turbine engines, hydraulic systems, propellers, rigging, warning systems, and environmental systems,” according to MC.
In addition to preparing students for a career as an aircraft mechanic, the AMT program provides a versatile skill set desired in other industries, such as automotive and diesel, heavy equipment, power and light, and industrial technology, MC said.
