Carlsbad welcomes return of La Cueva Pet Care Center

Carlsbad welcomes reopening of veterinary care center

The reopening of La Cueva Pet Care Center in Carlsbad on Sept. 5 is being celebrated in the city.

“This was greatly needed, as the remaining veterinarians in Carlsbad were having trouble absorbing everything when La Cueva closed earlier this year,” Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway stated, adding, “We have been asked by members of the public numerous times to help with this issue, and we’re glad to see a business step up to assist.”

Located at 613 W. Pierce St., La Cueva closed earlier this year after veterinarian Dr. Marvin Albright retired. Dr. Albright opened Animal Care Center in Carlsbad in 1994, then sold it after eight years and eventually opened Dal Paso Animal Hospital in Hobbs, according to a March report by Carlsbad Local. He first opened La Cueva in 2016. There are currently two other clinics in Carlsbad: Weldon Veterinary Care and Carlsbad Animal Clinic.
