Cavern City Batfest to bring cave simulator to Carlsbad Beach Bandshell
A cave simulator, live DJ, food trucks, chile cookoff, candy giveaways and local art vendors will be among the family-friendly activities happening this Saturday, Oct. 29, when Cavern City Batfest descends into the Carlsbad Beach Bandshell.
From noon to 6:30 p.m., the bat-themed event, hosted by the Creative Carlsbad Arts Council and sponsored by Chevron, will additionally feature the Bureau of Land Management‘s Inflatable Cave and other offerings from the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens, Carlsbad Caverns and the Dessert Willow Wildlife Recreation Center. In addition, the Judge David Redford Memorial Zombie Walk, a fundraiser for the Judge David Redford Memorial Scholarship Fund, will begin at the Cascades Parking Lot at 6 p.m. and end at the Batfest, according to Carlsbad Radio.
DJ G-Money will provide entertainment. And, in case you weren’t aware, the cave simulator, known as “cave-sim,” allows kids to crawl into a cave for hands-on learning about biology, geology, cave rescue and other topics. Watch this YouTube video for more information on this upcoming Batfest feature.
