UTPB grad named principal of Odessa middle school

Alejandra Garcia, who earned her bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degree in educational leadership from UT Permian Basin, was recently named principal of Ector Middle School.

It’s the school where Garcia’s teaching journey began a decade ago. Her first job was teaching eighth grade social studies at the Odessa school, according to UTPB.

“I am excited to return to the campus where my educational journey as a teacher began ten years ago,” Garcia said. “They deserve nothing but the best, and I will ensure that is what they are provided.”

Garcia expresses gratitude to Dr. Kevin Badgett, UTPB Professor of Educational Leadership, for playing a significant role in her career.

“The professors were extremely helpful and were available 24-7 to answer any questions,” she said. “Dr. Badgett, whom I reached out to plenty of times and still do to this day, always guided and helped me through my journey.”
