3:11 Ministries encourages community to sponsor families this Christmas

The charitable organization 3:11 Ministries is gearing up for another holiday season of giving to children in need across Midland, and your help is needed.

The organization recently opened its sponsorships to adopt families for Christmas. Founded in 2013 as a small community project to provide Christmas gifts to 60 students referred by school counselors, 3:11 has since grown exponentially, with more than 2,000 children served last year via referrals from school counselors and other organizations, such as the Midland ISD family support center and Communities in Schools.

Families are provided gifts for each child in their home (from newborns to high school seniors), including clothing, shoes, toiletries, toys, blankets and jackets. A portion of these families are sponsored by community members who want to shop for these precious children themselves. The remaining families are provided the whole Santa package by 3:11 and awesome volunteers.

This year, 3:11 is partnering with Salvation Army on the effort. The organization has a staff of only two and relies heavily on the community to sponsor families and to volunteer at its facility to help fill wish lists.

“We are on a mission to bless at-risk children enrolled in our local schools with basic needs and provide them with a way to experience childhood magic,” said 3:11 Ministries Executive Director Sally Stafford. “We believe all children should know they are loved and cared for and we strive to demonstrate that love through our programs.”
