Andrews gets big response in city’s first tree giveway

You’ll soon see more trees in Andrews after the city’s first ever tree giveaway event received a significant response from the community.

The City of Andrews, Keep Andrews Beautiful and the Apache Corporation recently partnered to host the tree giveaway. The city publicized that 50, five-gallon vitex, red bud and cedar elms trees were available on a first come, first served basis starting Feb. 28. Residents were asked to contact the city to reserve their tree.

As of Monday, Feb. 26, all trees had been reserved, according to city staff.

“We have already exceeded the number of requests than we have trees,” officials said, adding, “Michael Rosales is in the process of responding to all who requested trees.”
