Bass Pro Shops coming to Midland

Bass Pro Shops expects to open its 17th Texas story in Midland in late 2024, the company announced this week.

The store, which like all Bass Pro Shops will feature a unique custom design, will locate near the junction of Hwy. 158 and Hwy. 191, conveniently between Midland and Odessa.

The company said it looks forward to partnering with the City of Midland and the Midland Development Corporation “to bring the widest selection of hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation gear in the industry with an inventory tailored to the region.”

The shopping experience will combine “retail with entertainment, outdoor education and conservation,” the company said. Along with fishing and hunting, equipment and clothing for all outdoor adventures will be offered, including hiking, backpacking and camping, to name a few.

The new location will also host dozens of events throughout the year aimed at connecting new audiences – and particularly children – to the outdoors, from hands-on demonstrations to interactive activities.

One example is “Gone Fishing,” an annual event which aims to introduce families to fishing through catch-and-release ponds, casting games and free fishing seminars with the goal of creating the next generation of conservationists.
