Bush Family Home State Historic Site to celebrate National First Ladies Day

All 46 First Ladies in U.S. history, including the two who called Midland home, have a significant impact on American history, society, and culture.

The Bush Family Home State Historic Site will celebrate their legacy on National First Ladies Day on Saturday, April 27, with a free event featuring a variety of activities for the whole family.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bush Family Home at 1412 W. Ohio Ave. in Midland. It will offer a self-guided tour of the Bush Family Home, fun games and crafts for kids, an exhibit highlighting some of the First Ladies and the major causes for which they advocated, and First Ladies trivia for both adults and kids, with prizes.

“Our National First Ladies Day event will be a fun experience for the whole family, and we look forward to shining a light on the importance of First Ladies in our nation’s history, who are often overshadowed by the presidency,” Bush Family Home Educator Don Zavodny said.

The Bush Family Home joined the Texas Historical Commission in 2023 and is one of 38 sites in the state of Texas.

Its normal operating hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; the last tour begins at 4:15 p.m.
