Bush Family Home to participate in Worldwide Day of Play
The Bush Family Home State Historic Site will join other sites around the world to participate in the Worldwide Day of Play on Sept. 28.
Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums established Worldwide Day of Play in dedication to joyful learning through play.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bush Family Home, visitors can have fun playing 1950s games, just like the Bush Family played while they lived at the home at 1412 W. Ohio St.

The games will include croquet, marbles, jacks, jump rope, slinky, hula hoop and more. Also, families can race against each other looking up information in our telephone book race. While the games are free to enjoy, tours can be taken of the home for regular admission.
“We wanted to add an anachronistic element to the day. Many children never used a telephone book since everything is on their phone,” said Site Manager Troy Gray.
The Bush Family Home joined the Texas Historical Commission in 2023 and is one of 39 sites in the state of Texas. Its normal operating hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; the last tour begins at 4:15 p.m.
