Chevron partners with Texas Rattlers to launch rodeo, charity initiative in Permian Basin

Chevron has partnered with the Ariat Texas Rattlers of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams league on a charity initiative that will include the launch of the inaugural PBR Chevron Showdown on June 20 at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa.

Starting with the PBR Chevron Showdown, Chevron will donate $800 for every qualified ride logged by a member of the Rattlers both at Ector County Coliseum and during the 2024 PBR Camping World Team Series regular season. Those funds will be donated to Permian Basin nonprofits, including the Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center Hippotherapy Program, FFA programs in MISD and ECISD, and the Reeves County Junior Livestock Show.

All profits from ticket sales for the PBR Chevron Showdown will benefit the Odessa College Wranglers rodeo team.

The PBR Chevron Showdown will be part of the organization’s Challenger Series. It will feature the 2023 World Champion Rattlers competing alongside members of the OC Wranglers rodeo team in a team bull riding format. The Stateline Band will provide live entertainment following the rodeo. Tickets will go on sale later this spring.

“We are bringing the world’s best in bull riding to the global stage of energy and making positive and lasting impacts on our communities one eight-second ride at a time,” said Nicole Barber, Chevron MCBU public and government affairs manager.  “The PBR Chevron Showdown will create memorable, family-friendly experiences, celebrate West Texas culture, and support organizations that play pivotal roles our Permian communities.”

Chad Blankenship, GM for the Rattlers, said the partnership is an opportunity to give back in a meaningful way to communities who have supported the team.

The PBR Camping World Team Series’ 12-event 2024 regular season begins in Oklahoma City on July 12.  The Rattlers 2024 homestand is scheduled for Sept. 26-28 at Cowtown Coliseum and Dickies Arena.
