Dr. Scott Muri named Region 18 superintendent of the year
Dr. Scott Muri, superintendent of the Ector County Independent School District (ECISD), has been named the Texas Association of School Boards’ superintendent of the year for Region 18 for 2022.
“This recognition is well-deserved and an extraordinary honor,” officials with the Region 18 Education Service Center stated on social media.
Added ECISD, “There is no question his leadership is improving opportunities for teachers and staff, and the achievement of our students! Good things are happening in ECISD. Congratulations, Dr. Muri!”
Dr. Muri became superintendent of ECISD in 2019 after serving in the same role at Spring Branch Independent School District in Houston, according to the ECISD website. His school district is within Region 18, which includes 33 school district in 19 counties. Dr. Muri has held leadership roles in school systems in Atlanta and Charlotte. He’s also served time as an elementary school teacher, middle school math/science teacher, instructional technology specialist and high school dean of students.
