Ground breaks on Cyclone Ballparks expansion

The Pecos community celebrated the groundbreaking for the second phase of the Cyclone Ballparks expansion Tuesday, Feb. 20.

The Phase II expansion will bring three new multi-use fields suitable for soccer, flag football, and various other sports activities. Also in the works are two new food and beverage buildings, one of which will feature a viewing deck, a new playground and splash pad, and new parking spaces. The project is slated for completion in the fall of 2024.

At the groundbreaking, Frank Ramos, Cyclone’s Director of Operations, spoke about the expansion’s potential to enhance the local sporting scene, while Pecos Mayor Teresa Winkles spoke about the project’s role in fostering youth development and leadership within the community.

Luis Tovar from National Championship Sports, a tournament right holder, added he’s excited to bring events to Pecos and emphasized the potential for Cyclone Ballparks to serve as a premiere destination for tournaments and competitions.

Ahead of Tuesday’s groundbreaking, Cyclone Ballparks announced Chevron as its new partner. Ray Thavarajah, Operations Manager for Chevron Mid-Continent Business Unit’s Central Area, said the company is proud of the new partnership, which will result in community engagement initiatives that will benefit local athletes and the community at large.
