Midland College recognized for support of first-gen students
Midland College’s focus on advancing the success of first-generation college students was recently recognized, as MC was selected as member of the 2024-2025 cohort of the FirstGen Forward Network.
The national initiative recognizes institutions of higher education for their commitment to this issue, and it enables MC to learn best practices from other colleges and benefit from professional development opportunities.

“Being selected for the FirstGen Forward Network is a significant honor for Midland College,” said Joseph Granado, VP of Student Services.
MC has used advising, mentorship programs and student clubs to address the unique challenges faced by first generation students.
Membership in the FirstGen Forward Network enables MC to continue developing programs anad initiatives that will positively impact the lives of students, according to Ida Curiel, associate director of First Generation & Post-College Initiatives.
