Midland Historical Society offers creepy candlelit tour of Brown-Dorsey House

If you aren’t properly creeped out at least once during the Halloween season, you aren’t doing it right.

Here’s an opportunity to send shivers up your spine. On Thursday, Oct. 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Midland Historical Society will host a spooky, candlelit night at the Brown-Dorsey House, where attendees will be on the lookout for “all things creepy.” They can include creepy dolls, odd antique items and images of eerie old Halloween costumes.

All are welcome and a $10 donation is requested to enter.

Located at 213 N. Weatherford St, the Brown-Dorsey House is the oldest remaining house in Midland and is a Texas Historic Landmark and in the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior, according to the Midland Historical Society. The home was constructed in 1899 by Zachary Taylor Brown, whose eclectic career included tenures as a lawyer, merchant and rancher.

In 1900, Brown moved his family into the home, which serves as an example of folk Victorian architecture, was constructed for an estimated $1,500 to $1,800, according to the Midland Historical Society.
