Midland ISD’s Angie Aron earns Principal of Year honor for second time

For a second time, Midland ISD’s Angie Aron has been named TEPSAN of the Year by the Texas Elementary School Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).

Aron, currently principal at Jones Elementary School, also earned the honor when she was principal at Burnet Elementary in 2018, according to Midland ISD.

She’s among 20 prinicipals honored in 20 Texas regions. Midland ISD is part of Region 18.

Honorees are recognized for their commitment to ” advancing the principalship and the association as well as serving as a voice for Texas students,” according to TEPSA. They will be recognized at the TEPSA Awards Celebration on Wednesday, June 7, at the Round Rock Kalahari.

“These leaders are dedicated to serving their learning communities and supporting Texas educators,” said TEPSA Executive Director Harley Eckhart. “We’re honored to recognize them for their work and dedication.”

Aron called the recognition “a great honor.”

“We have so many worthy principals in Region 18, and to be chosen a second time as the region’s top elementary principal is surreal,” she said.

A principal for nearly two decades, Aron said the keys to success in her role are surrounding oneself with a great team and to learn constantly.

“When you stop learning, you stop thriving,” Aron said. “I’m constantly learning myself, and I strive to maintain a vision focused on keeping everyone at Jones Elementary moving forward. Students, teachers, staff, parents and the community: We all succeed together.”

MISD Superintendent Stephanie Howard said the district is “incredibly proud of the work Angie has done at Jones Elementary.”

“To be recognized by her peers at TEPSAN of the Year is not only a testament to her talent as a campus leader, but her selfless sacrifice in ensuring the students at Jones receive a great education,” Howard said.
