Midland reports lowest unemployment rate in Texas
Last week, The Midland metropolitan statistical area posted the lowest unemployment rate in the state of Texas during the month of May.
According to the Texas Workforce Commission, while the statewide average is 3.8%, Midland came in at 2.4%, followed by Amarillo at 2.8% and College Station-Bryan at 3%.
Midland also saw an increase in civilian labor force jumping from 114,000 in May 2023 to 115,800 today, representing a 1.57% growth rate.
“More than 200,000 people have joined the Texas workforce since May 2023, and we continue to lead the nation in year-over-year growth,” said Chairman of the Texas Workforce Commission Bryan Daniel.
Despite the growing workforce, Midland’s unemployment rate remains the lowest in the State.
