Midland to perform in Midland
The country band Midland announced today that its Up In Texas tour will stop in the City of Midland on April 26, 2024.
Tickets for the concert, which will take place at La Hacienda Event Center, go on sale Nov. 17.
The band, Midland, was not formed in Midland but rather in Dripping Springs, Texas. Of course there is a Midland, Texas, connection.
The band’s name was reportedly inspired by Dwight Yoakam’s song, “Fair to Midland,” which indeed references the West Texas city.
In the song, Yoakam sings about longing to afford the fare to travel to Midland so that he could be with a lover he’d left behind. Of course, Yoakam not only can afford the trip to Midland, he’s performed more than once locally.
