Odessa Chick-fil-A awards eight employees with college scholarships

The Chick-fil-A restaurant on University Boulevard in Odessa recently awarded eight of its employees with scholarships toward this year’s college expenses.

The award was publicized with a video on Facebook.

The employees, referred to within the company as Team Members, received a combined $17,000 after going through a rigorous application process, according to Restaurant Operator Nate Saxton.

Chick-fil-A gives away nearly $20 million in scholarships annually for its employees.

The eight Team Members earning scholarships this year include Brooklyn Graves, Laney Ramos, Carlos Vasquez, Trinity Osborn, Elysia Carillo, Raeann Fleener and Geovanna Maynez, who is a 2-time winner, receiving a total of $5,000 toward her education.

In the video, Saxton quoted Chick-fil-A’s founder, stating, “We are in the peo0ple business, we just happen to sell chicken.”

“We are so grateful for our team members’ work inside the restaurant and inside the classroom,” the company stated on social media. “It is our pleasure to invest in THEIR futures!”
