Odessa College’s Kris Baumann nets Texas association’s ‘Coach of the Year’ honor
The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) named Odessa College Head Coach Kris Baumann as the Men’s Two-Year College Coach of the Year for 2023.
In his fifth season, Baumann guided his team to a 30-4 overall record, a Western Junior College Athletic Conference regular season title for a third consecutive year and an appearance in the Elite Eight at the NJCAA D1 National Tournament, according to OC. Over five seasons, Baumann has amassed a 120-37 overall record with four WJCAC regular season titles and four trips to the NJCAA D1 Men’s Basketball National Tournament.
Baumann wasn’t the only member of the OC coaching staff earning TABC recognition. In his first season with the Wranglers, Sam Stowe was recognized as Men’s Student Assistant of the Year. An Odessa native, Stowe has been “a big help” to the OC basketball staff this year, helping with individual workouts, scouting reports and other duties as assigned, according to OC.
