Odessa invites students to create logo for new sports complex

The City of Odessa is on the lookout for a logo for its new sports complex and is counting on Ector County students in grades K through college to create a winning design.

The winning artist will earn a $1,500 scholarship to use at either Odessa College or the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. The City and Odessa Arts are teaming up with the Amy Bell Sports Foundation on the logo contest, which is open now through May 15, 2024.

Student applicants can create and submit a logo for the contest that brands the sports complex as the premier destination for sports activities in West Texas, said organizers. The design should reflect clean lines and impactful iconography (i.e., Nike or Coca-Cola) and can be black & white or color.

Five finalists will be selected by a committee of representatives from the City of Odessa, Odessa Arts and the Amy Bell Sports Foundation. The week of June 1st, the finalists will be revealed on social media and the public can vote for their favorite one, with the winning design being announced in June.

A “Soft Groundbreaking” ceremony in February 2024 celebrated the start of building the Odessa Sports Complex. Larry Bell and his family members attended the ceremony, after donating 100 acres of land valued at more than $5 million for the sports complex in the Faudree and Yukon area.
