Odessa police to hold wreath laying ceremony for Corporal G.T. Toal

The Odessa Police Department will hold a wreath laying ceremony to remember Corporal G.T. Toal on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Officer Toal died in a motorcycle crash while performing a funeral escort on Aug. 19, 1982.

The wreath will be on display from sunrise to sunset this Saturday. Anyone wishing to show their respects is encouraged to visit the memorial, city officials said.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which begins at sunrise.

Officer Toal was assigned to the Traffic Division, and had served the city of Odessa for two years. He was 36 years old at the time of his death, and was survived by his wife and two sons.
