Odessa teen wins national boxing title

Jayden Navarrette, 15, of Odessa, is both a full-time student at Permian High School, and also a national boxing champion.

After putting in the work in the training sessions on the evenings and weekends, Jayden emerged victorious at USA Boxing’s 2024 National Open, which took place March 9-16 at the Albuquerque Convention Center. He became the national champion in his division.

The tournament featured boxers from throughout the nation, including Hawaii.

The City of Odessa recently paid tribute to his latest boxing accomplishment, calling it “a huge honor.”
