Pecos installs benches made from recycled wind turbine blades
The Town of Pecos City is installing 10 new benches made from 96.7-percent-recycled wind turbine blades.
Two of the benches are already installed at the splash pad, while two more are at Maxey Bark Park. The remaining six benches will be placed in the coming weeks at the Pecos Community Center, Maxey Park, Hero Plaza, Saragosa Park and the National Fitness Court, according to town officials.
“Each bench is not only a functional addition to these parks but also a unique piece of design, reflecting the character of each location while being fully ADA accessible,” officials said.

Mary Carmen Wood, executive assistant to the Town of Pecos City’s Community Services, said additional benches will be added around town, with sponsorship opportunities being planned.
“Plus, we’re excited about introducing fun programs like scavenger hunts to make our parks even more enjoyable for everyone,” Wood said.
Each bench features a QR code that links to a story about the park and city events.
