Permian Basin bids ‘Happy Trails’ to morning show duo

Permian Basin bids fond farewell to morning show duo

Odessa and the greater Permian Basin bid farewell to beloved radio hosts Leo Caro and Rebecca Cruz from B93’s “Leo & Rebecca in the Morning” show after they signed off Friday on their final episode.

On the heels of this bittersweet farewell, the station is seeking a new team to “shape the next generation of radio in the Permian Basin.”

During the final broadcast, Odessa Mayor Javier Joven visited and read a proclamation giving the duo their own day: June 14, 2024, hereafter known as “Leo and Rebecca Day in honor of their 23 years together entertaining the community on air.”

Throughout their time on the show, the City of Odessa said the morning duo have supported numerous community organizations, provided a platform for local events and made many listeners joyful across the Permian Basin.

The City took to Facebook to express appreciation to the morning show stars for their decades on the airwaves. “Congratulations to Leo and Rebecca! Thank you for 23 amazing years!”

Leo and Rebecca posted a message on B93’s website for their listeners, which said: “To all our listeners that have listened throughout the years here in the Permian Basin, it has been an honor to wake you up every morning! You are the reason why we did this for 23 years. We will treasure every memory from this awesome ride!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for letting us serve this community and God Bless you!”
