Sibley Nature Center, ExxonMobil to provide free nature trips for local schools
Students from the Midland and Greenwood independent school districts will participate in free, educational trips at Sibley Nature Center during the 2024-2025 school year and during summer school sessions.
The two-hour educational adventures come courtesy of Sibley Nature Center and ExxonMobil. It will include a guided nature hike, a tour of the education garden with interactive activities, and a visit to the Sibley Nature Center museum.
The field trips work both to provide students a healthy dose of the outdoors, but they will be crafted in line with relevant academic subjects, including Science, English, Art, and History. The aim is to provide students with a “well-rounded understanding of the Flora and Fauna of the Llano Estacado,” according to MISD.
“We are grateful to Sibley Nature Center for hosting these field trips, which will undoubtedly inspire our students to connect with nature and develop a deep appreciation for the environment,” said Lyndsey White, Midland ISD chief communications officer.
