Texas Rangers, Chevron provide grants to youth-serving orgs in Midland and Odessa
Five organizations supporting youth in the Midland and Odessa areas have been awarded grants courtesy of a new partnership between the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Chevron.
Launched in June, the new partnership invited nonprofits, schools and municipalities that provide meaningful programming to children 18 and under to apply for grant funding. In its first year, the partnership distributed $50,000 in grants.
The nonprofits awarded inaugural grants include:
Casa de Amigos
Casa de Amigos will use the funds to support STEM/STEAM youth education programming.
First Tee – West Texas
First Tee – West Texas will use the funds to support youth programming.
Midland Junior Baseball
Midland Junior Baseball will use the funds for playing surface upgrades and youth programming.
Society of Petroleum Engineers – Permian Basin Section
The Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Permian Basin Section will use the funds to empower local STEM teachers to inform their students of the opportunities available to them in the oil and natural gas industry.
Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Midland
Young Women’s Leadership Academy will use the funds for its newly established athletics program.

The organizations were set to be honored during a check presentation pre-game ceremony at the Rangers-Mariners game on Saturday, Sept. 21.
“We are proud to join Chevron in making an impact on the Midland-Odessa region through this first-ever grant program,” said Karin Morris, Senior VP of Community Impact and Executive Director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. “This marks an exciting step forward in supporting local organizations, and we are thrilled to see these grants begin to make a difference in the community.”
All grant proposals were reviewed by the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation staff and by the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation Board of Directors.
“Chevron proudly supports non-profit organizations and schools that are empowering youth in the communities where we operate,” said Nicole Barber, public and government affairs manager for Chevron’s Mid-Continent business unit. “It’s an honor to partner with the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation to expand our support for youth in West Texas through this new grant program.
