This weekend’s CavernFest to feature homegrown musician
Among the bands performing at this weekend’s CavernFest will be one containing a homegrown musician.
Performing right before headliner Eli Young Band this Saturday is singer-songwriter Carson Jeffrey, whose band will include bassist Robert Houston White, a 2010 graduate of Carlsbad High who later attended Texas A&M University.
We learned this from Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway’s newsletter updates.
“CavernFest is one of the biggest events of the year, but it will be extra special for one Carlsbad family getting to watch their family member come back to play,” Janway said.
CavernFest is a free, family-friendly festival set for both Friday and Saturday in Downtown Carlsbad. Held since 2016, the event hosts dozens of food trucks, vendors, and attractions and remains free thanks to partnerships in the community with companies like Chevron, this year’s presenting sponsor.
Other sponsors include XTO Energy, The City of Carlsbad, Carlsbad Chevrolet, ConocoPhillips, R360, Forrest Tire, KB Services, Western Commerce Bank, Bad Bass BBQ, XCel Energy, CNB Bank and The Stevens Inn & Tate Branch. According to Janway’s newsletter, activities include a volleyball tournament, Let’s Have Foam, face painting and archery, among many others.
The fun begins at 6 p.m., June 9 and at 10 a.m., June 10.
The live music lineup is as follows:
Friday Schedule
6pm – Last Child
7:30pm – S.H.I.L.O.
9pm – Bri Bagwell
Saturday Schedule
2:45pm – Cody Zane Wells
4pm – Palmer Anthony
5:30pm – Grace Tyler
7pm – Carson Jeffrey

CavernFest has happened every June in the MainStreet district of Carlsbad since 2016, and grows every year. It’s not just fun entertainment, but also a hub for local organizations to host events and fundraisers.
