Three days of art, craft and fun coming to Bush Convention Center

Three days of fine art, craft and community fun are coming to the Bush Convention Center in Midland this Fri., July 21 through Sun., July 23 as the Arts Council of Midland (ACM) hosts its annual “Celebration of the Arts” for the 39^th year.

“The festival hosts local entertainers and performers, nonprofit organizations, family-friendly activities, and special events throughout the weekend,” stated ACM, which noted on Facebook there will also be a “Food Truck Alley.” Friday night’s Premiere Party is a ticketed event benefiting ACM, while the Festival Days on Saturday and Sunday are free to attend.

A “three-ring good time” is touted for the event’s “Premiere Party” Fri., July 21 from 7-10 p.m., which will serve up heavy hors d’ oeuvres and adult drinks like the “Carnival Cosmo” and will showcase juried visual artists in the “big top” to sponsors and ticketed guests, per ACM. Live art demonstrations, a silent auction and music will also be part of the fun for all ages. Party tickets are $80 for one person or $75 each for two people and can be purchased here.

The event’s “Festival Days” on Sat., July 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sun., July 23 from Noon-5 p.m. are free to attend and, in addition to the aforementioned art and family friendly activities, will feature food trucks including: Sweet Traveler Patisserie; Sassy’s Snack Shack; The Kitchen by Laurie; Scooter Dog TX; Crystal’s Crepes & Coffee; The Blizzard Bus; Cirebrooks Mobile Fest; The Finer Things Bakery; and the Texas Tap Co.

The 2023 Distinguished Artist for this year’s festival is Austin resident Baron Wilson, who “produces fine art paintings ranging from Texas regional landscapes, still-life, abstracts and architectural landmarks,” according to the ACM. Look for his booth at the event.
