Carlsbad invites residents to join Earth Day Art Contest

Travel publication highlights ‘charming’ Carlsbad

Folks living in and around the Permian Basin are well aware of Carlsbad’s charm. With help from news reports focused on travel, that reputation is spreading far and wide.

Recently, the publication “The Travel” promoted Carlsbad as offering “a cute downtown with tree-lined streets, a wide variety of restaurants, affordable accommodations, museums, and the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens.”

In the warmer months, “Lake Carlsbad Beach Park is the perfect place to swim and picnic, and Brantley Lake is ideal for hiking, boating, and fishing,” the article points out.

The Travel also highlights the allure of Carlsbad Caverns National Park, of course. It’s a great year to visit, as Carlsbad Caverns is celebrating its centennial as a National Park Service site this year. The publication also offers travelers recommendations on where to fetch breakfast in Carlsbad (Blue House Bakery & Café), lunch (YellowBrix Restaurant) and dinner (The Trinity), along with places to stay, like the Trinity Hotel, Fiddler’s Inn, and, for those on a budget, Sleep Inn and Suites.

Travelers are also encouraged to visit Carlsbad Museum and Art Center, The Guadalupe Ridge Trail, The Pecos Riverwalk and more.

“New Mexico is known as the land of enchantment, in part, no doubt, due to the stunning underground world of the Carlsbad Caverns National Park,” the article states. “But in addition to Carlsbad’s rich geological history, this charming city offers a lot to explore above ground as well.”

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway touted the article for being the latest news publication to introduce Carlsbad as a tourist destination.

“The article mentions the fact that the Carlsbad Museum will soon have an exhibit called ‘One Drop at a Time, The Centennial Celebration of Carlsbad Caverns National Park’ which is a great way for our community to join in on celebrating the 100th anniversary of our national park,” Janway said. “The Quilter’s Guild’s annual show is currently on display at the museum. Please check it out!”
