TV show filmed in Carlsbad gets fully funded
Season 1 for The Promised Land is fully funded, and the TV show’s Pilot Episode, which was filmed in Carlsbad, is currently showing on YouTube, the show’s producers announced on Facebook.
The Promised Land is a biblical comedy series based on the book of Exodus. It aims to garner laughs using the Bible as material, but does not insult it. The show will start shooting in October 2024, according to the post, and will launch in spring or summer of 2025.
In September 2022, we reported about the show’s plans to film in Carlsbad from the city’s former mayor Dale Janway. “Filming will take place near the sand dunes around Hackberry Lake, as well as near Lake Avalon,” said Janway at the time. A casting call was put out.
Series personnel recently shared a livestream on YouTube announcing the good news about the funding and encouraging fans to interact with them on social media because it especially helps them algorithm-wise. A marketing campaign was started 40 days in advance of the Pilot Episode’s release to test the waters on an audience for the show. The Promised Land quickly went viral and attributed it to the community sharing, commenting, subscribing and loving the content.
This activity resulted in the series raising the entire production budget and being poised to launch The Promised Land series next year.
