United Way of Eddy County receives $20,000 from Chevron for Hardship Fund

It wasn’t just love at first sight. Every passing day, the United Way of Eddy County is falling more in love with its community. And that love is especially being felt this Valentine’s Day.

On Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, the United Way announced a $20,000 donation from Chevron to the organization’s Hardship Fund, which works to provide struggling local families with immediate needs.

Chevron helped the United Way establish the Hardship Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide emergency food, housing and other supports to vulnerable residents. With support from generous donors, the Hardship Fund continues to spread the love in the community, providing neighbors with swift access to resources and aid, such as help with utility bills, food pantries and distributions, veteran services, mental health support, clothing, prescription medications and housing support.

“Very few people understand the pain and grief someone else goes through in a crisis,” said Maria Cole, Executive Director of United Way of Eddy County. “Thank you Chevron for being kind to people in their tough times and contributing to our donation. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude because people like you are so selfless with their gifts and thoughts.”

Leland Stafford, Chevron Delaware Basin Operations Superintendent, expressed gratitude for the works of United Way and the many community members and organizations that make Eddy County a great place to live and work.

“We are elated to have the opportunity to help support our neighbors in need, especially those who are struggling with housing and food security,” Stafford said. “We love being partners with the United Way on this Hardship Fund because we have seen the difference it has made in the lives of Eddy County residents.”
