UTPB professor’s new children’s book teaches kids about their hearts

A UT Permian Basin professor’s new children’s book teaches kids about their heart.

Human Performance professor Dr. Moran Sciamama-Saghiv recently released “Pumpy & Pumpina,” the story of James and his heart, Pumpy, and Mary and her heart, Pumpina, as they go through every day occurrences.

The story helps teach kids “the heart’s purpose and function in our bodies, how thoughts influence our hearts, and how food and sleep play a major role with our hearts, too,” according to UTPB.

“Pumpy & Pumpina is the first in what is planned to be a series of books meant to take children and adults on a journey of learning and education,” said Dr. Sciamama-Saghiv. “It was important to me to incorporate some personal aspects of my own life. As a scientist myself, the scientific aspects of the book were also very important. This book is a contribution from one parent to all parents.”

Pumpy & Pumpina is available in eBook format on Amazon. Hardcover and paperback books are available at Barnes & Noble (in store and online).
