UTPB women’s team sets school record for three-pointers in one game

The UT Permian Basin women’s basketball team set a school record with 18 three-pointers in the win against Midwestern State on Jan. 20.

The previous school record, 17 three-pointers, occurred during the 2016-17 season, according to UTPB Athletics.

Contributing to the latest milestone in three-pointers were Morgan Helgesen (6 threes against Midwestern State), Holly Hemmeline (4), Andreea Mancha (4), Makala Bingley (2) and Kamryn Lemon (2).

A UTPB team “in perfect harmony” defeated Midwestern State 90-62 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum, improving to 8-2 in the Lone Star Conference and 13-3 overall. This is the best start in program history, with its previous mark of 12-4 occurring in 2010-11, according to UTPB Athletics.

UT Permian Basin returns home Thursday, Jan. 25 to host St. Edward’s at 5:15 p.m.
