New ‘Food FARMacy’ to support Midland Health patients with serious illness

Midland Health partnered with West Texas Food Bank to implement a plantforward food program for patients with serious illnesses such as diabetes or heart disease.

During a patient’s stay at the hospital, a social worker will provide information about their eligibility to attend the Food FARMacy program and its benefits.

The Food FARMacy is open to referred patients twice a month at the Midland West Texas Food Bank.

“Once the patient arrives, they will learn a new plantforward recipe and be able to shop at the Food FARMacy,” Midland Health states. “The Food FARMacy allows those with chronic illnesses to learn how healthy foods can support and nourish their bodies for improved health outcomes.”
