West Texas Symphony to showcase trumpeter in 2024 season opener
Ben Fairfield, West Texas Symphony’s co-principal trumpet, is helping set the orchestra’s 2024 performances alight with “WTS SPOTLIGHT” Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center in Midland.
Fairfield and Lone Star Brass members will join the West Texas Symphony Orchestra’s performance of “Trumpet Concerto” by Franz Joseph Haydn, recently featured on Netflix’s hit show Squid Game.
Other engaging works featured by the orchestra that night will include Florence Price’s “Andante Moderato;” Mozart’s “Overture to the Marriage of Figaro;” and Franz Schubert’s “Symphony No. 5.”
Fairfield—aside from playing for the Symphony—also performs as principal trumpet for the Abilene Philharmonic and is the Artistic Director of the West Texas Symphonic Brass. He is in-demand as a guest member of trumpet sections throughout the United States.
Tickets to the first-of-the-year performance range from $12 to $60 and can be purchased here, via phone at 800-514-3849 or through the Wagner Noël Box Office. The Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center is located at 1310 N FM 1788 in Midland.
