West Texas Symphony unveils musical program for 62nd season

The West Texas Symphony (WTS) today unveiled its musical program for the 2024-2025 Season.

Led by Music Director and Conductor Gary Lewis, this will mark the 62nd season for WTS.

New season subscriptions go on sale June 26. Individual concert tickets on sale Aug. 1. Visit wtxs.org for multi-tiered pricing levels including student discounts.

The season kicks off with American Stories, a celebration of William Grant Still’s Symphony No. 1 and special performance of Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto by featured cellist Ethan Blake.

In October, the symphony will welcome acclaimed Mexican-American soprano Barbara Padilla to perform with the orchestra, whose stunning voice will captivate audiences of all musical tastes.

In November, Folk Tales showcases popular repertoire by Richard Strauss and Edvard Grieg with featured pianist Dr. Andrew Cooperstock.

In December, the orchestra presents West Texas’ favorite timeless holiday tradition, Sounds of the Season.

Debussy’s Premiere Rhapsodie is paired with Beethoven’s Second Symphony in January for “Doves & Crocodiles”, the annual WTS Spotlight featuring Principal Clarinet of the West Texas Symphony, Chris Chance.

In March, world-renowned singler/pianist/songwriter Tony Desare presents “The Piano Show Featuring Rhapsody In Blue” with the symphony.

At the April Masterworks finale, the orchestra will celebrate The Rite of Spring, Igor Stravinsky’s famous work and the third iteration of the side-by-side performance with local students.

Finishing the season is Superman In Concert accompanied by the power of the West Texas Symphony orchestra performing John Williams’ triumphant original score live to the film.
