West Texas Winds set for spring recital of ‘Giocoso’

The West Texas Winds are emerging onto the 2024 scene with an early “Spring Recital” performance of “Giocoso,” Thurs., Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at First Methodist Midland.

Giocoso, or “lively music” in the musical vernacular, will feature performances of Sechs Bagatellen fur Blaserquintett by Gyorgy Ligeti, Diversions, Op. 10 by Lee Hoiby, Ajubete Jepê Amô Mbaê, Op. 10c by Liduino Pitombeira, Five Frogs by Jenni Brandon and Aria and Quodlibet for Woodwind Quintet by Arne Running.

Musicians that evening will include Lyndsay Eiben on flute, Caryn Crutchfield on oboe, Chris Chance on clarinet, Philip Hill on bassoon and Sonja Millichamp and Scott Millichamp on horn. Preview the performance’s program here.

Tickets to Giocoso are $25 for adults and $12 for students and can be purchased online, via phone at 800-514-3849 or at the door. First Methodist Midland is located at 300 N. Main St. in Midland.
