Diamondback Energy to donate $7.5M to MAS Sports Complex

Diamonback Energy announced today it will donate $7.5 million to help construct the Midland Athletic Syndicate (MAS) Sports Complex.

The funds will be used to construct the principle building of the indoor athletics complex that will locate at Scharbauer Sports Complex between Astound Broadband Stadium and Momentum Bank Ballpark in Midland.

The MAS Sports Complex will feature 100,000 square feet of playing surface including six full size basketball courts that can convert to 12 full size volleyball courts and one 5v5 indoor soccer arena that can also be used as a multi-sport turf space, according to a statement by Diamondback Energy. The facility will also offer locker rooms, concessions, spectator seating and flex rooms for meetings and education.

Diamondback Energy CEO Travis Stice said the investment will benefit local youth and also the local economy due to the Complex’s capacity to host tournaments and league play.

Diamonback Energy will host a check presentation with the MAS on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at 5514 Champions Dr. in Midland.
