ECISD fine arts programs benefit from $175K FMH Foundation grant
The FHM Foundation provided the Education Foundation of Odessa with a $175,000 grant that will provide new instruments for the Ector County ISD’s (ECISD) 5th Grade Strings Program and will help support the ongoing revamp of the Permian High School Auditorium.
The new instruments will allow the district to increase the number of participating students, according to the ECISD, which announced the grant award on Nov. 21.
In a previous grant, FMH funded a new sound system in the Permian Basin High School Auditorium. This latest grant will support the addition of a new Sound & Light Booth that is handicap accessible and will “ensure that equipment stays protected for years to come,” according to the school district.
The auditorium supports students from multiple campuses across the school district and hosts events for UIL Music Region VI.
“The ECISD Fine Arts Department is incredibly grateful to the FMH Foundation and the Education Foundation for their continued generosity to both our ECISD students and the Permian Basin community,” Dr. Aaron Hawley, ECISD’s director of Fine Arts. “This grant will allow students across the district to access the new 5th Grade Strings program and will greatly improve the production capacity at the Permian High School Auditorium.”
