Museum of the Southwest to hold opening event for 'Frida Kahlo - Her Photos'

Frida Kahlo photo exhibit extended at Museum of the Southwest

Frida Kahlo – Her Photos has been extended through Jan. 1 at Museum of the Southwest.
Originally set to conclude Nov. 20, the exhibit brings the iconic artist’s personal photo collection to the state of Texas for the first time.
“Locked in the bathroom of La Casa Azul for over fifty years, these images comprise a moving glimpse into Kahlo’s personal life,” state museum officials.

The exhibition, made possible by the Anwar Family, had been locked in the bathroom of La Casas Azul for over 50 years. In 2003, the archive, which included 6,500 photographs, hidden documents and objects, was opened and examined. Pablo Ortiz Monasterio, Mexican photographer and photo historian, susbequently curated this exhibition.

The extension of Frida Kahlo – Her Photos adds to the museum’s fun holiday events. Learn more by visiting the Museum of the Southwest’s website here, on Facebook here and Instagram here.
