Goodwill West Texas swings open doors on Midland Career Center
Goodwill West Texas unveiled a new CARF® accredited Career Center in Midland that it said will “empower individuals by providing free essential resources, career development and job placement services.”
The Midland Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of the Career Center with a Ribbon Cutting event Thursday at its location within Goodwill’s retail store at 4320 W. Illinois Ave. in Midland.
Aside from being staffed with two employment and resource specialists, the Career Center will provide an array of services such as job search assistance, resume writing, interview training and career coaching, according to Goodwill West Texas. The Career Center is also stocked with computers, printers and internet access.
Chief Executive Officer Rick Waldraff said that the Midland community has supported Goodwill West Texas’ mission by donating goods and shopping in its retail stores—and because of that support—“we are proud to be able to expand our mission through our Career Center services.”
Goodwill West Texas said its Career Center is open for anyone, without prerequisites, qualifications or costs. “The center and its services are funded by the sale of donated goods in Goodwill West Texas retail stores.”
Underscoring the organization’s belief that jobs strengthen communities and that everyone should have equitable access to work, Goodwill West Texas’ Senior Director of Mission Services Danielle Robertson said, “That’s why our team is committed to helping individuals of all backgrounds and abilities secure meaningful employment.”
The Career Center is currently open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The organization encourages advance appointments, however, walk-ins are also welcome. To make an appointment or learn more, click here.
