Live drive-thru nativity returns to Big Spring

The First Church of the Nazarene in Big Spring will host its 36th annual live drive-thru nativity from Dec. 10-12, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each evening.

The church, located at 1400 S. Lancaster St., was inspired to launch the live drive-thru nativity in 1987, according to a press release from last year’s event. The immersive feature started with seven scenes and grew over the years.

The event draws thousands of visitors to a production featuring live animals, a live cast, and authentically decorated settings. Visitors follow down a path while listening to the story of each scene, all with the aim of sharing the true story of Christmas.

According to Rev. Richard Schneberger of the First Church of the Nazarene, the live nativity encourages community members to take a moment from their busy lives to remember what Christmas is all about.

“It’s a time for you as a family to slow down and to really focus on the reason for the season and to remember why we celebrate Christmas,” the pastor said. “It’s our gift to the community.”
