Midland Health announces arrival of ‘most advanced PET/CT scanner available’
The first, all-digital Omni Legend PET/CT scanner in the U.S. has arrived at Midland Health.
Diagnostic Imaging Associates at Midland Memorial Hospital now has one of the world’s first few of these scanners, which are considered the most advanced available, according to Midland Health.
Used to stage and restage a variety of cancers and to diagnose diseases like Alzheimer’s, Omni Legend “provides crystal clear images with the earliest possible disease detection,” enabling doctors to begin treatment sooner, hopefully before the disease has spread in the body. The device shortens the scan times for patients by 50 percent on average comparing to other systems and offers unique patient comfort amenities, according to Midland Health.
In addition, Omni Legend features the latest technologies to reduce radiation exposure to the patient during scans, according to the healthcare provider.
“The highest level of care with superior quality of imaging is available here in the Permian Basin,” officials said in a statement.
