Midland’s Faith DeLaGarza nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

Faith DeLaGarza, a Midland High graduate and star golfer competing for Dallas Baptist University, has been nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year, the university reported.

DeLaGarza, a senior and three-time WGCA All American and four-time WGCA All-American Scholar, led the Patriots to its first-ever NCAA Division II National Championship last year.

In its 32nd year, the NCAA Woman of the Year continues to honor academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of female college athletes in the NCAA. All conferences from all NCAA divisions across the nation nominate candidates. Ten honorees from each of the three NCAA divisions will be chosen by a selection committee. Afterward, the committee will then choose three finalists in each division, for a total nine finalists. The Committee on Women’s Athletics will select the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year from the nine finalists.

The award ceremony will take place during the NCAA Convention in January.
