Midland’s Hannah Lancto honored as National Youth Storyteller
A Midland Classical Academy student has been honored as a National Youth Storyteller (NYS), according to the Midland Storytelling Festival on Facebook.
Midland’s own, Hannah Lancto, 13, is one of ten youths nationwide to be honored as a NYS and will travel with her parents—Nicole and Greg—to Lehi, UT Sept. 5-9 to share her story before multiple audiences at the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, per the post.
At the Utah Festival, Lancto will share her original work, “What Happened to Goldilocks?” which she has recently published and released.
Lancto’s time in Utah will include participating in an onstage performance. During her stay, the post said she will also record her story for The Apple Seed radio and podcast and engage in discussions surrounding public humanities.
Noting it is proud of all the children participating in their storytelling workshops, the Midland Storytelling Festival highlighted that Lancto is the first student from Midland to be invited to perform at the national level since Stephanie Strauss, who was Torch Bearer, in 2003.
“The program…recognizes the abilities of the best and the brightest across the country to practice the art of oral communication, according to the Midland Storytelling Festival.
The young author credits the Midland Storytelling Festival as first introducing her to the world of storytelling, per her website, and noted the festival helped her discover her passion for telling stories, meet fellow storytellers and combine her musical and storytelling talents.
