National Merit Scholarship Program commends four Midland ISD students

Four “exceptional” Midland ISD students were recently named Commended Students by the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program, according to the school district.

They include Amulya Ganta, Fiona Li and Ryland Matis from Legacy High School, and Nnenne Nnanna from Early College High School at Midland College.

The distinction indicates the four students scored among the top 3 percent of all students nationwide on the Pre-SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, the school district states.

“Being selected as a Commended Student is a particularly remarkable accomplishment to add to each student’s college application portfolio alongside the AP Scholar Award with Distinction that each received in July,” said Judy Bridges, MISD director of Advanced Academic Services. “Midland ISD wishes these young people well in all their future endeavors. Congratulations to all.”

The students will be recognized at the MISD Board of Trustees meeting on Oct. 16.
