New management to bring new menu to restaurant at Hobbs golf course
Rockwind Grill, which operates from the award-winning, municipally-owned Rockwind Community Links in Hobbs, has new management that aims to bring a “whole new menu” to golf enthusiasts and community members alike, according to the City of Hobbs.
Following an extensive request-for-proposal process, Kenny Kim, owner of local restaurants Baja Grill and BG’s, along with Joy Field, owner of Joy of Catering, were selected to manage Rockwind Grill.
As of July 1, they have taken over restaurant duties from Sarah and Joe Yue, owners of Pacific Rim, who successfully ran the establishment since Rockwind Community Links reopened after a total remodel in 2015.
Hobbs Mayor Sam Cobb said the new management team consists of “two great establishments that have chosen to work together in order to continue services at Rockwind Grill without missing a beat.”
“The City of Hobbs is grateful for the leadership owners Sarah and Joe Yue showed when they entered the agreement to be the first to run Rockwind Grill,” Cobb said. “This was a new endeavor to all of us involved, and the community benefits from the contributions and investments the Yues continue to make. The new concepts Mr. Kim and Ms. Field bring are sure to take Rockwind Grill in a new direction and to attract new golfers and nongolfers alike.”
Kenny Kim called the opportunity “exciting.”
“We’re happy to be working with the City of Hobbs to provide members and visitors at Rockwind delicious, high quality food and beverage products at a world class golf course,” Kim said. “Thank you to Sarah and Joe on all the support and encouragement they’ve provided during this time and their willingness to help us maintain all services during this transfer.”
Joy Field added, “This is a facility with so much potential, and we’re excited to create a whole new menu and gain new inspiration at such a beautiful outdoor space. The Yues have been in the service industry and restaurant business for a long time, and it is special to follow in their footsteps. We are grateful to them as well as to the City of Hobbs, City Commission, and entire community for their support during this time.”
Rockwind Grill is located at the municipally-owned golf facility at 5001 Jack Gomez Blvd. in Hobbs
