New Nutrition Center to boost student athletes at UTPB

University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) has unveiled plans for the new Cindy and Homer Daniels Nutrition Center on campus for student-athletes, which it’s installing in the D. Kirk Edwards Family Human Performance Center’s weight room.

Student athletes can take advantage of the Nutrition Center’s array of protein shakes and other options aimed at fueling and boosting their performance, per the university, which said a generous gift from Odessa natives Cindy and Homer Daniels made it possible.

The Daniels family said, “Once we learned about the need for a Nutrition Center, and that it would help every athlete across all sports, we were excited to get involved.”

The family added that they believed the center would be a great addition to the success of UTPB student-athletes.

UTPB VP of Athletics Todd Dooley said that the center will enable UTPB Athletics to supplement the unique nutritional needs of student-athletes.

“We are thrilled about this fantastic addition to the Kirk Edwards building and the ORMC Training Center,” he said, adding “The Cindy and Homer Daniels Nutrition Center is a game changer for UT Permian Basin Athletics.”

The new nutrition center, which should be completed “soon,” is expected to be the best in all of Division II athletics, according to UTPB. Learn more about the new center and UTPB.
